For practitioners who want to learn more about deep transformational work, this training will show you how to uncover and work with clients' shadow parts.
The shadow refers to the aspects of our clients that they had to disown in childhood because their caregivers could not tolerate them.
Some people felt unsafe as children when they were loud and boisterous, so they became quiet and invisible leaving their strong voices in their shadow. Others rejected their joy and happiness because their parents were more kind to them when they were depressed and sad, making joy a shadow quality.
In this training, I show you how to help your clients to access and reclaim their shadow parts so they can become more whole.
By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:
-
Explain how childhood experiences of rejection, criticism, or conditional love contribute to the development of the shadow.
-
Describe the impact of disowning parts of the self on authenticity, relationships, and emotional triggers.
-
Recognize how client triggers often reveal disowned aspects of the self.
-
Use reflection, curiosity, and compassionate inquiry to help clients uncover unconscious patterns.
-
Apply tools with clients such as journaling, dialogue, and somatic exploration to bring unconscious parts into awareness.
-
Guide clients through rituals of self-compassion and reframing judgments into strengths.
-
Encourage clients to see shadow work as a pathway to empowerment, healthier boundaries, and more authentic relationships.
